Christmas Newsletter 2025
As we approach the end of 2025, we have some valuable information for you all.

XMAS CLOSURE
We will be closed for the Christmas Holidays, from Tuesday 23rd December 2025 and opening again on Monday 12th January 2026, to allow our very hardworking staff much needed rest and family time.
PRESCRIPTIONS
PLEASE make sure your order for repeat prescription is made as soon as possible, to see you through until late January 2026. Our appointment slots from mid to late January 2026 may be limited and hence please allow enough time to request an appointment if needed. Kindly provide a minimum 24-hours' notice to allow prescriptions to be ready.

HEALTHCARE OVER THE HOLIDAY PERIOD
We request that you access virtual consultations with Practice Plus - https://practiceplus.nz over the holiday period or visit one of the closest A & M Clinics. Details are available on our website – www.glenavondoctors.com
PATIENT PORTAL - “MY INDICI”
My Indici is a secure online patient portal which allows patients over the age of 16 to manage their health needs. It lets you book appointments, request repeat prescriptions for long term medications, and view test results. It also allows your GP to communicate with you securely (e.g.) reminders of when blood tests are due or when results are available etc. You can use My Indici through a desktop computer or mobile apps and you must be registered with us for this. You need a valid email address to register and use the portal. If you are not yet registered, call us to sign up.
MEASLES IMMUNITY
Aotearoa New Zealand is experiencing a growing outbreak of measles cases, reported across multiple regions. Measles is highly contagious, especially to non-immune individuals. You need two doses of the MMR vaccine (after the age of 12 months old) to be fully protected against measles. If you are not sure that you have had two MMR doses, please call 0800282926 to check your status. It is easy and free to get immunized against measles. Contact us if this is needed.
COMING IN 2026 - EXTENDED PRESCRIPTIONS
From February 2026, some patients may be able to get prescriptions that last up to 12 months. This will depend on the type of medication you are taking.
This change will be at your provider's discretion and will require a mandatory annual visit to ensure your health checks are up to date. Most patients with long-term conditions will still need three monthly prescriptions to allow monitoring and checkups. Our priority is clinical safety and ensuring the effectiveness of medication.
The maximum quantity of medicines that can be supplied from the pharmacy at any one time remains at three months (six months for oral contraceptives). Controlled medication will still be on a monthly script.
We will update as soon as more information becomes available, so that you will know how this will work for you.
Lastly, we would like to thank you all for your support during these increasingly challenging times in healthcare and Wish You All a Happy and Healthy Festive Season.
